Object Summary
This 2008 Evro-Giunti (Belgrade) issue of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone represents the moment when the Harry Potter series migrated in Serbia into its Latin script. Issued in a first printing of 5,000 copies, it is the foundational volume in Evro-Giunti’s Serbian Latin-script programme.

The 2008 first printing was published in hardback with the familiar Mary GrandPré cover artwork—common in many translations who don’t wish to commission unique artwork and are, in fact, encouraged to use this artwork due to its familiarity.

Translators
Vesna Stamenković Roganović and Draško Roganović translated the text from the original Serbian Cyrillic and their work is often recognised by Serbian readers for producing a consistent narrative register across the series. The translation arrived after Serbian readers already “knew” Harry Potter in Serbian.
