£5,500 (excl. VAT)

Original preliminary pencil sketch on paper created by Mary GrandPré in 2006 as she prepared the title artwork for Chapter 14 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, titled The Thief.

This artwork depicts the tent that served as a hidden refuge for Harry, Ron, and Hermione during their quest to find Voldemort’s Horcruxes. The scene shows the tent nestled in the forest, with bats flying overhead and subtle enchantments cast by Hermione providing protection from detection. The chapter title refers to the ‘thief’—an unidentified tall blonde boy who once stole an object from Gregorovitch, the wandmaker—a secret revealed through Harry’s mind-reading of Voldemort. Mary GrandPré deliberately chose not to reveal key plot details in this image, preserving the mystery of the chapter.
