Original preliminary pencil sketch on paper created by Mary GrandPré in 2004 as she prepared the title artwork for Chapter 3 of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, titled Will and Won’t.

This expressive study captures the moment when Dudley, Uncle Vernon, and Aunt Petunia are unexpectedly struck on the head by enchanted glasses conjured by Dumbledore, who has come to collect Harry from the Dursleys. The scene highlights Dumbledore’s growing frustration with the Dursleys’ long-standing mistreatment of Harry, a sequence notably omitted from the film adaptation.

This artwork marks Mary GrandPré’s first portrayal of the entire Dursley family together, emphasizing the tense and uneasy dynamic that frames Harry’s departure.
