Original preliminary pencil sketch on paper created by Mary GrandPré in 2006 as she prepared the title artwork for Chapter 16 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, titled Godric’s Hollow.
This evocative sketch depicts the statue of James and Lily Potter holding baby Harry in the snow-covered graveyard of Godric’s Hollow on Christmas Eve. In the story, Harry returns to his childhood home, where a war memorial in the town square magically transforms before his eyes, revealing the figures of his parents cradling him as an infant. The imagery captures a poignant moment of reflection and connection to Harry’s past.
